ABOUT

Karl Eland was born in Preston in the UK, a town in the north of England that sits between 2 city's with a big music tradition – Manchester and Liverpool. Karl began playing the guitar at the age of 16 and following a number of cover bands, he eventually went solo and began to write his own material, playing many gigs in his hometown of Preston and at venues such as the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool and the Blue Cat Cafe in Manchester.

Karl's first taste of success came when he self-released a CD single called 'Radio Song' - which went on to gain airplay on his local radio station - BBC Radio Lancashire. This led to Karl playing bigger gigs across the UK, including a number of festival appearances - the highlights being a headlining performance on the acoustic stage at The Stockton Riverside Festival supporting Badly Drawn Boy, and a support slot with legendary country-folk-rockers Chas & Dave at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Karl then took his music to the city of London where he became a popular favourite on the London music scene - often sharing the bill with acts such as Ed Sheeran at venues such as The Troubadour Club, The Bedford and The Regal Room. During this time he created a strong buzz amongst promoters and music lovers as a profound songwriter, which led on to Karl becoming a weekend resident act at London's premier music venue Proud Camden - and to an headlining performance at the music industries ‘In the City’ festival in Manchester.

These successes created much interest in Karl and his music, and as such he made several appearances on numerous radio stations such as BBC Radio and Preston FM (his home town's station).

More recently, Karl put all his experience into recording a collection of  demo tracks - of which he released a 3 track EP titled 'Back In The Day'. This was met with critical acclaim from DJ's, reviewers and fans from around the world and the tracks were played on a number of radio stations in the UK, across Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan. In one particular week, 3 different DJ's from the legendary Radio Caroline all rotated tracks from the EP on their shows.

In the summer of 2016, Karl embarked on a tour of Nashville Tennessee in the United States, where he played many of the city's top songwriter venues such as The Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner and The Commodore Grille.  During this time, he was also advised to join the Nashville Songwriters Association International, an organisation that represents the cream of songwriters in Nashville.  This led to Karl recording a live session of acoustic tracks at 'Catch This Music' - a top Nashville studio on the famous 16th Avenue, Music Row.  Through the NSAI Karl also found himself in the position of pitching his songs to major music publishers and working with professional song-writing mentors who helped Karl to fine tune his art and to gain a better understanding of the craft of song-writing.

In 2017 Karl embarked on a project in which he revisited his entire back catalogue of over 100 songs - in order to put together the demo of his album 'Highway Dreams'.  In order to help promote the songs, in 2018 Karl is set to play a number of online live acoustic performances via You Tube Live.  He is also currently working on releasing a Demo EP of the tracks, which will be available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon etc. See - KARL ELAND YOU TUBE CHANNEL - For Upcoming Live Dates.
